Over the past year, we continued our endeavor to share music with FIDA's members and friends, and have been actively involved in showing support to events and functions for a good cause. As the highlight of the year, FIDA has sponsored the Watoto Children's Choir for their performance in Hong Kong as part of their "Signs & Wonders" Asia Tour in 2017-18.

On December 13, 2017, the Watoto concert was successfully held at the Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School with the support of FIDA. The hall was remarkably filled with more than 1,000 audience with guests from FIDA, where members of FIDA and their families joined the Watoto performers to sing and dance. Watoto means "Children" in Swahili. The children from the choir came all the way from Uganda and represented a voice for millions who are orphaned and vulnerable in Africa. They bring a story of hope to host cities all over the world. Their production is vibrant, with a blend of native African rhythms, contemporary gospel music and creative dance.

Contributing to the success of the event, special thanks need to be given to Ms. Sandy Wong, who led the FIDA choir to perform alongside the Watoto Choir, and Ms. Kitty Chan, who offered her guidance to the violin soloist and actively contributed to the wonderful performance. Thanks also need to go to the HKFO School of Music, which offered the venue for rehearsals for the choir. Throughout the concert, the audience enjoyed themselves with the amazing dances, lively music and the inspiring stories presenting Watoto's vision and mission. As the children shared how they had come out of darkness into a transformed life of purpose, family and friends of FIDA also experienced the wonders and joy of salvation. We believe that our members' generous support will be a true blessing to those in need.

We joined hands with Youth Outreach again this year.  The “YO! FIDA Team” performed “Grease Lightning” from the musical “Grease” at the annual Sedan Chair Race held at the Peak on 29th October 2017. This collaboration was again met with considerable acclaim and was awarded the Champion of the Most Entertaining Team on the race day for the 6th consecutive year; 

Representatives from the “YO! FIDA Team” attended the Thank You & Farewell Party hosted by the Sedan Chair Charities Fund on 8th June 2018.  We dressed up in our costumes for the Sedan Chair Race of different years to commemorate and bid farewell to the Sedan Chair Race, which, as the management team of the Matilda Hospital decided, will be suspended with effect from 2018;

We assisted Youth Outreach in its fundraising event “YO Dancical 2018 (協青街舞劇 2018) – 一念之間” and watched their show at Shatin Town Hall on 14th  April 2018.  Angela Wong from FIDA contributed by writing the lyrics of a Canto-pop song “零豪吶喊”, which was performed by the main cast Waibun Wong at the show with much acclaim.  FIDA Council members also subscribed for a page of advertisement in the programme booklet as a token of support for the event;

Representatives from our dance team, together with representatives from the Association of Women Accountants HK Ltd and the Hong Kong Women Doctors Association, were again invited to perform at the annual “香港工商婦女慶三八” dinner banquet held on 21st March 2018.  Dancers of the team performed “得到了的愛情 x One Night Only” (derivative works with rewritten lyrics) and the same was again one of the most popular performances for the evening;

We continued having our regular dance classes under the coaching of staff and teachers from the School of Hip Hop of Youth Outreach.
