2017-2018

Ripples Action is a series of activities which motivate and engage women lawyers, women accountants, women doctors, women nurses, social workers, Junior Police, University Students, NGO and others to support and empower underprivileged women. The Ripples Action Initiative, founded by FIDA and other dedicated women professionals including women doctors, accountants and nurses and International Social Service (ISS), has continued to be active in the past year in reaching out to migrants and needy women in the community to provide mentoring and support for them and their families.

On 19 August 2017, we hosted another community event together with the same team of Professionals and Christian Family Services Centre at Kwun Tong. Professor Sophia Chan (陳肇始教授), JP, Secretary for Food and Health, was invited to be our Guest of Honour. Experience on mentoring, family and legal matters were shared, pep smear, blood and stress tests, psychiatric assessment conducted for free. 

On 21 April 2018, we hosted another landmark celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Ripples Action with the same team of Professionals at Ka Ling School of the Precious Blood (寶血會嘉靈學校) at No.280, Hai Tan Street, Shamshuipo, Kowloon. Mr Paul Chan Mo-po, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, Financial Secretary was invited to be our Guest of Honour. 

The Ripples Action outreach to women in need in Hong Kong has been held since 2008 by the Hong Kong Federation of Women Lawyers Limited/FIDA in collaboration with the International Social Service (ISS) Hong Kong Branch, Hong Kong Federation of Women, Association of Women Accountants (Hong Kong) (AWAHK) and Hong Kong Women Doctors Association (HKWDA), Nurses Association and also other supporting organisations aiming at connecting with and mentoring the underprivileged women and families in different districts in Hong Kong, through deploying their respective resources and specialization to benefit women mentees attending the event each time.

This time, previous co-organizing parties sent representatives to fully support us, like Dr. Ellen Li Charitable Foundation, The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention (Hong Kong), Hong Kong Employment Development Service Limited whereas many companies had generously donated thousands of toys and products to the participants too.

In the Carnival, about 10 booths of games were manned by co-organizing parties on
top of mentoring on family and legal matters, conducting pep smear, blood and stress tests, psychiatric assessment for free. About 300 guests had participated this meaningful event and shared the joy with the local community.
