Art Committee continues to provide members and friends with art enrichment event. FIDA members and friends were invited to the exclusive event of exhibition of artist Myonghi’s “Consciousness of Color, Color of Consciousness” on 22 October 2018. Ms. Catherine Kwai, the founder of Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, gave us an in-depth guided tour and talk on the exhibition. Light refreshment was served.
About Myonghi and the Exhibition:
Born in 1947 in South Korea, Myonghi moved to France in 1972. In 1986, she was invited to exhibit in the Centre Pompidou in Paris and has drawn attention of the Western art world since then. She was highly regarded by Western art critics. Mr. Dominique de Villepin, the former Prime Minister of France and poet, described Myonghi as “a gem known only to insiders”. The exhibition showcased 29 oil paintings and works of pastel created by French Korean artist Myonghi in 2016-2018. Inspired by the natural scenery of Jeju Island in Korea, Hong Kong and France, Myonghi deconstructs the logic of structure and colour senses and captures the fleeting nature by her unique sensibility in abstract strokes, to represent the resemblance between human and nature through her paintings.

With great appreciation to our Art Committee Co-Chair and Past President, Ms. Janice Choi, we were privileged to secure a private docent tour to the Monet Exhibition on 21 June 2016 at the Heritage Museum in Shatin for FIDA members and friends. We had two private guides to the Exhibition. It was indeed a rare opportunity to view the Exhibition as it was closed off to public on the day!
