One Moon Charity Gala
We successfully organized the One Moon Charity Gala Cocktails and Dinner held at The Murray Hotel on Saturday 14 September 2019. Echoing our mission to support women, youth and children in need, the event raised funds for charities supported by FIDA, including Agape International Missions (AIM), an anti-human trafficking NGO in Cambodia, with net proceeds going towards charities supported by FIDA. The evening was filled with exciting events, including sharing sessions from AIM founders and country directors, dance performances from our talented youth, as well as auctioning of items and experiences generously provided by our sponsors.
As part of the preparation of the Charity Gala, we, together with a few title sponsors for the Charity Gala visited Cambodia to support the children at Agape International Missions (AIM), hand in hand with FIDA’s mission to support women, youth and children in need. We have visited the AIM centre for the children in need, attended the new AIM school opening, interviewed rescued victims and visited a garment factory for reborn victims in creating various products in continuously supporting AIM.

40th Anniversary Celebrations
2015 marked the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA). We hosted a conference, cocktail reception and dinner entitled “One Heart – Women Lawyers Conference in Hong Kong” on 20 November 2015 at the Hong Kong Bankers Club. We were pleased to welcome a number of distinguished and honourable guests, women lawyers from abroad, sponsors, partners with whom we have collaborated over the years and members and friends.
At the conference, we had a panel of overseas and Hong Kong women legal experts who discussed women issues in Singapore, the PRC, Taiwan and Hong Kong. At the cocktail and dinner, we shared some of the works of FIDA in the past and currently undertaken. We saw the debut of our new FIDA anthem which was composed and written by our own members.
Sons, La Vie Joallier, Stars Photography, Mikimoto, Kai-Yin Lo, ABN Amro, Adler, Dentons, Flannel Flowers, Plukka, Qiezi, Ferragamo and Dior, we held a lucky draw and silent auction of exquisite fashion and beauty items.
We were all very honoured to celebrate FIDA's 40th anniversary with many of our long time partners and friends.

Speeches were given by the President of FIDA HK, Ms Benita Yu, one of the founding members of FIDA HK, Ms Elsie Leung, and the Solicitor General of the Department of Justice, Mr. Wesley Wong SC, followed by a toasting by honorable guests and the debut of the FIDA HK song, written by its own members. The evening was enriched with a silent auction of exquisite beauty pieces and lucky draw by a number of leading brands in fashion and beauty. Dress code for the event was national attire as FIDA HK supports the modernisation of the Cheong Sam for today’s women.
The cocktail reception was preceded by the “One Heart – Women Lawyers’ Conference in Hong Kong” at which a panel of legal experts (including Ms. Rosa Koo (Singapore), Ms. Helena Chen (Taiwan), Ms. Yang Fan (PRC) and Ms. Sandy Wong (HK) (Past President) and led by moderator Ms. Sylvia Siu (Past President)) discussed women issues in Asia.

Generous sponsorship for the event has been gratefully received from a number of sponsors.

Oxford Gargoyles Singing Workshop
Chairs: Ming Lie, Janice Choi, Sarah Wong
Our Committee has been established with a view to help and support local underprivileged families. We collaborated with Oxford Gargoyles to sponsor underprivileged children to attend the Oxford Gargoyles singing workshop during summer 2014 to show our support for children in music through this new venture. We obtained 30 places in the Workshop, where we paired up 15 children that were nominated by a FIDA member, matched with 15 underprivileged children that were selected from local mentees through an NGO ISS that we partners with.
We organized a sponsorship of underprivileged children aged 13 -17 who in conjunction with members’ children, attended the Oxford Gargoyles singing workshop from 13-15 July, 2015 at the Chinese YMCA in Kowloon, a tea gathering and cumulating in a performance on 17 July, 2015 at the Hong Kong University Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Grand Hall. The workshop was led by the Music Director of Oxford Gargoyles with the assistance of its members.
We are happy to report that we have sponsored 30 places for the Oxford Gargoyles Charity Workshop and the performance. We organised 15 pairs of children, 15 nominated by FIDA members matched with 15 underprivileged children. We had selected the 15 underprivileged children selected from our Ripples Action mentees with the kind assistance of our partner ISS (an NGO), which we partner with and from Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School with the kind assistance of our Past President and current Council Member Janice Choi).
The student attendees of our three-day choral workshop learned 6 songs, and performed with the distinguished soprano, Ms Sandra Ng, and the Hong Kong Cadenza-Sintonia Chorus. The concert helped raise money for a water project in Yunnan Province, China.
The Oxford Gargoyles are dedicated to the mission of intercultural exchange through music, and have led a cappella workshops with students in many different countries. The Oxford Gargoyles have toured internationally in North America and Europe for over a decade and recently in Hong Kong. The Gargoyles have been consistently recognised as one of the best a cappella groups in the UK, having won European Category of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) in 2007, the Voice Festival UK competition in 2010, and the Open Category of the BBC Choir of the Year competition in both 2012 and 2014, whose final rounds were broadcast on BBC television.
We look forward to future collaboration with the Oxford Gargoyles.
